I Hope You Love Me When I'm Broken

I hope you love me on the days
That getting out of bed is my biggest win.
When I'm no longer witty or pretty,
I hope you love what's within.

When I let myself go,
When I beg to burst out of my own skin,
And carrying my own weight is a chore,
I hope you love me more.

I hope you love me when you find out
That there's nothing to be fixed.

Because I am so tired
Of trying to be,
Something that isn't me.

I have searched in so many chairs,
And promises,
Little pills
And big prayers.

All l can do is hope.
That is all I have to give.
This is who I am.
There's nothing I can fix.

For beauty, empathy, kindness
The lies the world tells me I must be
To be worth your company
Is only a tattered half.

I hope you love me when I'm broken,
I hope you love me when I'm in pain,
I hope you love me when I'm in tears,
I hope you love me when I'm howling.

Dear Self,
I'm done fighting.
Please love me when I'm broken.
